Explanation

Amnesty period                              March 11, 2008 to May 1, 2008

The amnesty

If you pay the fine portions of outstanding citations during the amnesty period, the late fee portion of each citation will be waived. For example, if you owe $40 or more on a citation, you may subtract the $20 late fee from what you owe for that citation. You may pay the Park Plymouth office or you may pay on-line.

If you have made partial payments on outstanding citations, contact the Park Plymouth office during the amnesty period to find out if you still owe fine amounts and ask them to waive the the late fee portion of each of your citations.

If your vehicle registration number has already been marked for non-renewal, you can still have the $20 late fee portion of each citation waived if you decide to participate in the amnesty program, but you will owe Park Plymouth $20 per citation to cover the RMV fees for removing the non-renewal marking from your registration.

After the amnesty period ends

If you do not participate in the amnesty program, you will continue to owe the fine portion of each outstanding citation, and you will again owe the $20 late fee portion of each outstanding citation.

Furthermore, if you do not participate in the amnesty program, the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) will be asked to mark your vehicle registration for non-renewal if you have had two or more citations in the past two years which have been outstanding for more than 63 days.

*Please note that violations marked for non-renewal require a Registry Clear Form

issued by the Park Plymouth office before you can register your vehicle.

Be sure to contact the Park Plymouth office (508-747-5929) if you have any questions.
