In parts of the Downtown, the Waterfront and North Plymouth, it is necessary to pay for parking Monday through Saturday from 9am to 7pm and Sunday from 12pm to 7pm, including Holidays. Outside of these core areas, there is no charge for parking and there are no posted time limits for un-metered street parking outside of these areas.

Plymouth (Downtown and Waterfront)

Downtown On-Street Parking:

·     Un-metered parking with a 2-hour limit is available along portions of Main Street Extension, Summer Street, Main Street and Court Street.

·     Un-metered parking with much shorter time limits is available in some locations in the Downtown as a convenience for customers needing to park for a few minutes in busy locations.

·     Metered on-street parking with a 4-hour limit is available along Middle Street, Carver Street, North Street, South Russell Street, North Russell Street and Brewster Street. The rate is $.50 per hour (U.S. money only). The meters accept nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars or dollar coins. You can pay for partial hours, and you can pay for up to 4 hours at a time.

NOTE: If you park in an un-metered location for longer than the specified time limit, you must move your vehicle. If a parking officer notes that your vehicle has been parked in a particular space for longer than the posted time limit, your vehicle will be ticketed. The only exception is a vehicle with a handicap permit.

NOTE: If you are parked at a metered location and the meter has expired, your vehicle will be ticketed unless you have a Downtown Resident permit or a handicap permit.

Downtown Lots with Parking for up to 10 Hours at $.50 per Hour (U.S. money only)

·     Some lots offer parking at coin operated meters. The meters accept nickels, dimes, quarters or dollar coins. You can pay for partial hours, and you can pay for up to 10 hours at a time.

·     Some lots offer parking at Pay and Display machines. These machines accept nickels, dimes, quarters or dollar coins as well as $1, $5 or $10 bills (credit or debit cards are not accepted at this time), and you pay for time in 1/2-hour units or for the maximum amount of time. Receipts from any Pay and Display machine may be used for parking in any Pay and Display lot. Receipts may NOT be used to pay for parking at a meter on a street or at a meter in a lot. The receipt dispensed by a machine must be placed face-up on the dashboard in your vehicle where it is visible.

o    The Market Street lot offers parking at a Pay and Display machine.

o    The Main Street Extension lot offers parking at coin operated meters. However, one row of spaces in this lot is reserved, on a first-come first-serve basis, for people with Merchant or Employee permits.

o    There are two Middle Street lots—one with coin operated meters and the other with a Pay and Display machine. In the lot with coin operated meters, and only in this lot, instead of having to put money into a meter, a receipt from the Pay and Display machine may be displayed on your dashboard. However, vehicles with permits that provide for free parking in only Pay and Display lots must pay if they park at the coin operated meters in this lot.

o    In our lot off of North Street and Brewster Street, we offer parking at a Pay and Display machine.

o    In our Brewster Street lot adjacent to the Park Plymouth office, we have parking at coin operated meters.

o    In the South Russell Street lot, we offer parking at coin operated meters. However, vehicles with permits that provide for free parking in Pay and Display lots may park in this lot for free.

NOTE: If you park in one of these metered lots and your meter is expired, your vehicle will be ticketed unless you have a permit that lets you park there for free. Specifically, vehicles with Downtown Resident or handicap permits are exempt from having to pay at the meters. In addition, the South Russell Street metered lot is free to vehicles with Downtown Resident, Plymouth Resident, Merchant, Employee or handicap permits.

NOTE: If you park in one of these 10-hour Pay and Display lots and you don’t have an un-expired receipt on your dashboard, your vehicle will be ticketed unless you have a permit that lets you park there for free. Specifically, vehicles with Downtown Resident, Plymouth Resident, Merchant, Employee or handicap permits are exempt from having to payin the Pay and Display lots.
